FS: Walkabout 400

Hi.. friend has a mobile for sale, it's a Telecom Walkabout 400.. does
anyone know how much these are worth? Are they any good?

Umm...$0? Wasn't that crappy idea for a network killed off MANY years ago?

Possibly the only value it would hold would be to a museum?

I remember these... you could only use them in places where there was a
walkabout sign - how did they work?  were they an AMPS based system, or
early GSM, or something else?

I don't know what technology they used.  As I recall, though, they could
be used with a home base station, much the same as a cordless phone.
Once you left home, they had a different number.  You had to manually
log on to a local base station when you wanted to make a call.

Technology call CT2 or Second Generation Cordless Telephone.

Isn't that Talkabout, not Walkabout?

I think the Walkabouts were just standard AMPS handsets.

No. actually I was talking about the Wallabout. Not sure if it is still
working, has been in storage.
