Hi All,
As per the subject heading... can anyone recommend a low cost mobile plan
with a telco that uses the Optus network?
This is for a young bloke, looking at a plan around $15-$30 p/m.
Bundling with a landline is also a possibility if the deal is worthwhile.
Prefer not to go the prepaid route...
Also, I recall a site existing to compare such plans, but can't remember
what it was... anyone? :)
TIA

Have you thought about iSim prepaid ( http://www.isim.com.au ), though?
Call rates are pretty cheap, and you can set it up so that it
automatically tops up your account when it drops to a user-specified
balance. One downside, though, is that the recharging unfortunately
isn't instant - it can take up to 24 hours.

And the recharges expire too.

Yep. Have fun explaining the FAQ.
Q Do my call credits have an expiry date?
A Your iSIM call credits are valid for 186 days from the date of call credit activation.

Best deal I've seen is the 9c plan from Digiplus:
9c/30 seconds (any mobile or landline), 25c flagfall
$9/month minimum spend
no minimum term

Thats not necessarily the best deal if you
mostly make calls of less than 30 secs.
You're better off with a plan with no flagfall for those.

Sounds good Rod - what do you recommend (Optus network, low cost etc)?

Basically the Optarse Usage Only plan. Bit tricky to get it, you are only
eligible when coming off a contract and its not clear if they still offer it to
new users anymore, it certainly works fine if you have signed up in the past.
I get those calls for 15c or so, significantly cheaper than landline local calls.

Optus Usage Only calls are 30.8c/30 seconds... so you're saying if he
can manage to actually get this plan, and can keep any given call under
30 seconds, he'll save 3.2c, right?

Yeah, sorry, my brain fart there, it was the iSim which
charges per second with no flagfall that was 15c per call ish.
Too many sims, too much severe brain fade |-(

You only admit mistakes when Rod has completely rubbed your nose in it.
Pity you're on leave clagging up this group with your rabid over the top
Telstra shill comments - why is it that everyone I know that works for

I think "B" have quite cheap call rates. They also give away free
Playstations, pushbikes, microwaves etc.
