End of my tether with Optus!

Hi Guys,

When I renewed my contract with Optus in March, I chose the option of
paying an additional $4.95/month for 4MB of GPRS/UMTS browsing of their
Zoo portal. I use a moderate amount of data, around 3MB/month, but ever
since I have been charged between $15 to $22 for every MB of data. When
I initially called up about it, they were quick to refund the difference
but didn't know why it was happening. I eventually pressured them into
running a billing investigation, but they never returned back to me, and
when I called them the CSR said "Oh the original CSR has to handle it".
This was when they changed over to curry munchers for their CSRs. Now I
can't understand a bloody thing they say, and it's been f.cked up *yet
again* this month.

I'm wondering what the hell to do about this - do I waste my time with
one of their subcontinental servants or do I go someplace higher? And at
what stage can the TIO be involved?

Thanks guys,

-Albi.

Someplace higher if you can manage that.

I got one to credit me with what they had billed me when they
had me on the wrong plan for months, got free services for years.

Whenever you have told Optarse of the problem and they havent fixed it.

Likely that is the best approach, should give you a local monkey
in Optarse who has the authority to fix the problem generously.

Thanks Rod - was thinking of asking to speak to a supervisor (again),
and then if that doesn't get anywhere writing a letter to HQ in Sydney.

Here's hoping - I'll deal with it tomorrow.

Walked into an Optarse World today and was told that if I drop off a
letter of complaint addressed to the State Manager it would be given to
her as she visits the store every few days. Worth a shot I suppose
before I get nasty with the TIO.

I am sure a "State Manager" of Optus World really gives a sh.t about Indian
call monkey errors. Cut the crap and call the TIO.

Call me stupid, but I have been refunded for this month, and have given
them one last chance, clearly stating I will be contacting the TIO if it
isn't corrected. Hopefully the threat will be enough to put a bomb under
someone.

Don't waste your time. Call the TIO now. Optus HQ is in Singapore anyhow, no
local management in Australia anymore, just puppets of Singtel.

I would if I was off contract... :(

No, give Optus a chance to respond (properly). Give them that opportunity by
raising a TIO complaint

They already have been given many chances and continue to f.ck up. Next step
is TIO who will order them to refund, and charge them for the complaint too.

That's what I'd do. Aside from the heartache and stress that Optus
inflicted on my wife over a 4 year period over a billing problem, that
took the TIO to fix eventually, I'm not overly keen on giving money to a
foreign government which has a somewhat callous attitude towards its
citizens.

You call hanging drug traffickers callous?  I call it about bloody time, and I
wish the Australian govt had the guts to do the same.

I didn't say anything at all about hanging drug traffickers.

More fool you. They actually have enough of a clue to kill drug trafficers.

When did they outsource their customer service? I was lucky to have an
issue resolved a couple of months ago where they hadn't acknowledged a
new phone contract (and a completely different plan) which meant that
calls and MMSs were charged at the wrong rate.  After several calls to
Allphones and Optus respectively over 2 months (each passing the buck)
I got lucky and the Optus CSR straight away offered a credit of $180,
asking if that would be sufficient to cover the discrepancy in plan
charging. I said thanks, I'll take it. :) He even gave me his full name
to follow up if there were any further problems.

If only they were all like that...

Yeah, I got that result myself, when Optarse put me onto the wrong
plan when my original contract completed. I still havent spent all the
credit so I got free phone calls ever since the contract ended and I
didnt actually make any calls on the contract either, just used it to
get a cheap 5110, $5/month.

That must have been a while back ...

Well this month's bill is correct. Kudos to whichever monkey at Optus
actually got the billing corrected. Maybe it was the threat of the TIO
that acted as a bomb under them :)
