Just did a quick blast up around NE Vic/SE NSW over the weekend. As
expected I found NextG coverage to be as patchy as CDMA in some areas,
and non-existant in others where we used to have CDMA coverage at
various levels.

For example, Tintaldra, about 20 kays out of Corryong. No NextG at all.
Ditto for GSM. But CMDA was available if you stand in the middle of the
road with the phone held high. But it would cut in and out.

Then up in the Snowies, on Elliot Way, just past one of the Tumut hydro
stations. A mate tried to make a call on his GSM. No signal. But my
NextG had a signal, but it was poor. He could hear his wife fine, but
she had problems hearing him. Kept cutting in and out.

Elsewhere, where there was good CDMA in the past, NextG was fine. Still
lots of areas around that part of the world with no phone coverage at
all. Omeo used to have good CDMA. But I found it had no NextG. It was
probably the only place that I checked that goes against the trend.

Hopefully, Telstra will further extend NextG's coverage.
