Hi,

I am working in a telecommunication company.
And my company has lunched a service which works as follow:
subscriber A should calls a short code (e.g. 505), and required to
type subscriber B GSM number.
subscriber B should recieve SMS from SMSC.

the problem is:
If subscriber B is nokia 1100, he couldn't receive the sms, Why? What
is the solution?

Thanks in advance...

Is your SMSC compliant with GSM 03.39 "Interface protocols for
the connection of Short Message Service Centres (SMSCs) to
Short Message Entities (SMEs)"?

Maybe it's the Nokia 1100?  it's not exactly a high tech phone,  have you
tried with another model?

My company is Sabafon GSM telecommunication co. in Yemen.

If you mean SMPP 3.4 protocol, yes?
Also the smsc support other sms services, the problem only in this
service w.r.t. nokia 1100.

Also the service works well with other mobile  ( lower and higher tech
models).

If there are any other solutions, please suggest to help me?

Thanks in advance

Then it's probably a protocol the 1100 is not compatible with,  check with
Nokia??

No, I was talking about the interface between the SMSC and the
Nokia 1100.  If the Nokia can self-address an SMS through that
SMSC (so that the mobile-originate message gets turned around
and delivered correctly as a mobile-terminate message), then
that aspect obviously works.

You are using SMPP 3.4 to lodge the messages?  Can you give an
example of a failed message (submit_sm PDU body in hexadecimal
format)?  Hide any sensitive information, such as the
destination address.  There may be a non-standard coding of a
data field somewhere, which the Nokia doesn't accept
gracefully.

What exactly is in the SMS?  What's the value of the PID
(protocol ID) and DCS (data coding scheme)?

Is the UDHI (user data header indicator) flag turned on?  If so,
what's the value of the UDH itself, and is it correctly padded
to an octet boundary?

O.K. I will check, or I will send pdu hex dump.

Alternatively, if you can send me one of these messages to
+61403908467 I will analyze its contents.  I will post any
result back here.

And yet, you haven't done ANY basic fault finding?

- does the problem occur in another handset
- does the problem occur using another SIM
- do you see the message pending for delivery
- is the SMSC returning an error code on attempted delivery?
- is the subscriber with a different company to "your telco"

- The problem doesn't occur in any other handset.
- The problem with all nokia 1100 subscribed to my company (i.e. it is
not the problems of the SIM) while the SIM works well on the other
handsets.
- Also a delivery success is returned to the SMSC.
- The service is for my company subscribers, so the problem is not out
of them.

Please, provide me with more suggestions to check the service.

Thanks
