K700i - 10 Apr 2007 02:37 GMT
Hi, I have a Sony/Ericson K700i phone that a relitive owned, just out of
warranty the toggle started playing up and the reli foolishly took the phone
to one of those shopping centre booths for repair.

The repair place managed to lock the software somehow and after a few
months the reli got the phone back with a different software package by
vodaphone ( it was telstra) and the toggle stick not working properly.

He then sent it to Sony/Ericson repair centre who said they cannot repair it
as it doesnt have the original software.

6 months on and he bought a new phone and gave me the 700i which works ok
but the toggle doesnt work consistently.

My question is, is it even worth getting it fixed if that was possible?

IMHO, yes.

Take it to dodgey mobile place to get it reflashed with an unbranded
firmware. Then take it apart and blast the inside of the joystick with a
can of compressed air to get all the dust and crap out that's stopping
it from working properly.

May I make a suggestion? Some great deals on SE phones at your nearest
Telstra outlet or at

Really? I see ONE Sony Ericsson phone that's actually able to be purchased,
the K800i (incorrectly listed, by the way, as a non-3G phone). The cheapest
plan it's available on with no up-front cost has a $60 minimum spend and
very average call rates.

Great deals? Only if you're blinded by Telstra's spin machine.

Do you work in Telstra sales or marketing James?
