Hi,
I live in an area with pretty bad mobile reception. I want to be able to use
my mobile at home more so was looking for a solution to this.
I have a nokia 6230 and was considering getting maybe some sort of desktop
unit that will charge the phone and be linked to an external antenna (like a
car kit). Is there such a product intended for home use? Or do I have to get
a car kit and modify it somehow?
What sort of antenna should I use?
thanks :)

The best option would be the CARK-126 Car kit as it has an antenna
coupler that attaches to the cradle and it will charge the phone. These
are easily found on eBay.

Then have a look at something like these for the antenna:

No need for a carkit. You need an MBC-15S cradle with an AXF-15S antenna
coupler. RFI have a couple of aerials which should do the job OK. If your
phone doesnt have a loudpeaker function, a headset will plug straight into
the cradle.

Or use a Bluetooth headset. When you've got a mobile wired to
an external antenna in a building, a Bluetooth headset really
comes into its own.

How far are you from the nearest tower? You might be on the edge of
it's range and an antenna may not help.
