Optus mobile idiocy

I just got a new 3G optus sim (the iPhone doesn't like the 1999
issue first generation sim card) and since then I have a range
of silly annoyances.

I get sms messages from #357 to let me know that I have missed
calls and if I reject an incoming call, the caller gets a truly
sickly-sweet/irritating recorded message telling them that I'm
not available. (All the same silliness happened to SWMBO a few
months ago when she got a new sim with her PDA phone)

Optus probably thinks that this is "service", but it's a right
royal PITA as far as I'm concerned. Is there a way to disable all
of this new-sim idiocy?

TIA,

GB

You can dial 159 and follow the prompts to cancel, or text OFF to 159.

Note that if you used voicemail prior to getting your new SIM, the
missed call service has now replaced that on your account.  If you
still want to use voicemail, you should reconfigure your call diverts
(ie if busy, if switched off/out of range, if no reply, or any
combination thereof).

Thanks Giles, that seems to have worked. Much appreciated.

Nah, I don't do voicemail. If it was important, they'll call back! :-)

Thanks again,
