Broken Optus voicemail

I have an infrequently used (and usually switched off) Nokia 3330 on
Optus postpaid (Your Saver Plus $9 plan).  This is a plain GSM phone
with unused old-style WAP.

The voicemail seems to have been disabled - I want it back ;-(

I haven't made any changes to my account or added a new phone or SIM
for several years.  All the diversions in the phone are still set
correctly (to 0411000321).  Is this a temporary glitch, a "feature" or
what?

When I call 321 to check voicemail, I get an invitation to enter the
number of the person I am calling or to enter the number of my voicemail
box.  I get the same message when I call my mobile from another phone
when my mobile is off.

If I enter my mobile number, it plays a ding-dong sound, then repeats
the same prompt about entering a number...

I saw another post here about My Missed Call Service, which I turned off
using Optus Zoo mobile.

I have tried to enable Voicemail using Optus Zoo mobile but it says
"Your Voicemail request has not gone through
An error occurred in the application. Please try again later"

My Optus Mobile (https://www.optus.com.au/myoptus/mobile... etc) doesn't
work - it gets an error message when trying to enable voicemail (see
[1]) and doesn't mention My Missed Call Service.  Is this portal still
in use?

Lastly I called their 1300 number and the machine said they were too
busy and hung up on me.  Talk about service!

I vaguely remember something like this when they changed the voicemail
number from something else to 321.  Is this still the correct number?

Service not available
The processing of your request is not able to continue. This could be
due to:

- the Optus systems being unavailable at this time; or
an error in the data you entered. Please check that all of the fields
for your request have been completed; or
- the service you have requested is not available on the mobile number
you have selected eg. Some services are not available to CDMA or
MobileSat phones. Please click Help in the Shortcuts menu for more
information; or
- the service you requested already exists on your mobile phone and you
have not made any changes"

your voicemail might have been deleted if you havent used it in a while

sounds like you need to give optus a call

and yes, the number is still 321

I rang them and they allegedly enabled it.  Said to wait 4 hours and it
should be working.  It isn't working several days later, and Optus Zoo
still gives an error when trying to configure voice mail.

All that's changed now is when I ring my mobile and get the recorded
message, it still asks me to enter a number, but now after it goes ding-
dong it says "that number is not listed" before telling me again to
enter a number.
