Telstra is getting ready to pull the plug on the CDMA network.
From January 28 the old CDMA handsets will be useless and unable to even
make emergency calls as Telstra makes way for the new Next G technology.

Telstra Countrywide south east region general manager, Ian Peters, and his
team will be making their way along the South Coast to talk to people about
their concerns and make sure every customer in the area is happy with the
new service.

"The new network is just as good even better than the previous ones and any
problems that have arisen are mostly due to handset issues," said Mr Peters.

Members from Ian's team will be in Bega and Mr Peters himself will be at the
Telstra shop in Merimbula today, Wednesday, January 16.

"If anyone is not having a good experience with the new network or if they
are having handset issues we want to help them sort it out.

"We definitely need that to happen, we want people to be happy with the
service."

Mr Peters said there has been a lot of confusion surrounding the networks
and how they work.

"Next G will eventually take over the rest of them because it is the leading
technology and Telstra is at the start of the technology not at the end."

Mr Peters said the reasons they are changing to Next G is because it will
give very good coverage and it will be put on every Telstra tower.
