Folks,
Tech here yesterday showed me a code to enter into a NextG phone which brings up
a heap of tech info, including the current cell being accessed. He mentioned he
only knew the (Engineering info??) code for his phone (LG TU-550), but said it
was the same as for the LG TU-500 and ZTE (Telstra) 165 phone. Possibly others,
but not all nextG handsets. He didnt believe it worked on any of the Nokia
models.
I didnt have time to write it down, but it started with something like #741, and
he mentioend the easiest way to remember it as being an 'N' on the number pad.
This would suggest it was #7415*963, but this isnt accepted on my LG TU-500. I'm
bloody annoyed I didnt take the time to write it down, or at least try it out
while he was here to see if I had it right.
Anyone familiar with this code? I'd be interested in seeing what cells are
being accessed when driving around our property, and this should help.
Cheers,
Rod.

LU TU500 & my wife has a TU 550 & both codes work on both
For Field Strength Menu *748#96 then step down 3 menus (My simplistic
understanding is that RSSI is total wideband power received & RSCP is the
equivalent narrowband level of the recovered code - perhaps someone could
confirm)
There is also another hidden menu (Engineering Menu) 277634#*# but change
any of these at your own risk

Eric,
Many thanks for this; it was indeed the menu I was shown.
Now I wonder where I'd find a list of Cell ID's. It seems to have an 8-digit
number as the cell ID.
Thanks again.
Cheers,
Rod.

Just tried it on my Samsung A501. Obviously it's an LG specific code, despite
the OP's suggestion that it might be a NextG-wide thing, with the exception of
Nokias.

Hmmm...Not quite what I said, is it?
And I quote from my original post: "He [Tech] mentioned he

It's more or less, if not verbatim, what you said. That it "might" work on other
NextG handsets other than LG. But in this case it doesn't work on on specific
Samsung model.

I missed the orginal post in this series, so I'm not sure how old this
is. I have a Nokia 6120C. The only time I get cell info is when it
roams onto GSM.
