Nokia Bluetooth setup on two computers

Attempts to get both of my computers to connect to my Nokia 6230 as a
dialup modem have been only partially successful. Using the Windows
(XP) Bluetooth utility I am able to install the modem on computer
"1" and it works well as a GPRS modem. Moving on to computer
"2" I use the same utility to install the modem and again
everything works well....so far so good....now, going back to computer
"1", although the Windows "show Bluetooth devices" menu
indicates the computer and modem see each other and everything is ok,
but any attempt to use the modem are met with a "unable to establish
connection" error. Removing and reinstalling the device gets it
working again on computer "1"....but, you can guess what happens
when I move to computer "2"....around the circle we go.

Interestingly (or confusingly) when setting up on computer "1" the
phone asks if you would like to pair with "Name1". After accepting,
Name1 is listed as a paired Device. Moving on to computer "2",
during the installation instead of asking if you want to Pair with
"Name 2" it says "Name 1"....given no other choices accepting
this does work?
Why don't I get both as Paired Devices?

Clues?

Is it possible you have used up the paired device table in the phone so it
needs to delete one computer to pair with the other?  If the phone is
paired to yet other devices such as headsets, try unpairing those and see
whether that allows both computers to maintain their pairing.

Nope...no other paired devices.

I know this sounds odd, but does each of your computers have its own
Bluetooth 'dongle' or are you sharing the dongle between both PCs.  I had
problems in the past using the same bluetooth dongle on 2 different machines
to connect to my 6630.

Bingo !

After several more attempts I began to have the same thought.
Figured it was woth the $19 for another dongle. Works, there are
now 2 paired devices. It appears in reality you are paring with the
dongle, not the computer.

I'm pretty certain that its the MAC Address of the device that is the key in
the pairing relationship - particularly as MAC Addresses are conventionally
unique.
