Ok... Lots of answers here.
First you can reset your 7650 to the factory original ROM by doing a reset -
and then you'll get rid of the kernel error. I'd say you'll want to install
applications on the MMC card and have more free memory otherwise you can get
these errors.
Next, the Nokia 7650 and Nokia 3650 *support* Bluetooth headsets. You'll be
looking for a headset with a "handsfree" profile. Look for a Jabra BT200 or
a Sony Ericsson HBH-35.
The P800 is quite good but you'll notice the camera quality is not good when
compared with the Nokia. But I enjoy it - a little more than I enjoyed the
Nokia because I can write on the screen which I'm more used to than using
the keypad.
Hope this clear things. Visit our site for reviews on all these devices I've
listed on this post.

Yeah, I reset it as you suggested, having nothing to lose, and I still
get no signal.
7650s don't have an MMC card. At least the ones in the UK don't.

That would be amazing, as I have been trying for 6 months to persuade
my 7650 to talk to my Jabra BT200, and have never found any websites
that claim it's possible. The 7650 will see it and pair with it, it
just won't talk to it, and as far as I remember I have tried it both
as a headset and as a handsfree. However my backup phone, a 6310i
works with the Jabra just fine.
I even checked out the geekzone websites, but no clues there either.
I am not blaming you, of course, for Nokia's inability to get BT
right.
Thanks for your help.

The original Jabra BT200 does not have the handsfree profile, but an updated
version does. You can contact Jabra and request an update. The Jabra BT200
with a blue sticker in the box are compatible with Nokia phones.

Apparently this is not so, Mauricio. The 7650 does not have voice BT
with any headset, even later models of the BT200. Jabra advises
buying the adaptor that turns a non-BT phone into a BT phone and using
that with the 7650 and the BT200.

I can be mistaken then. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
PS. Yep, found more info on this... Thanks again
