Can't install belkin F8T0001

Hi folks,

I'm having problems getting the installation to work on my Belkin USB
adapter.  And Belkin tech support has completely blown me off.  So I
turn to the good users here to see if any help can be found.

The installation has hung up on me every time I've tried it--it gets
about two-thirds through it, and then stops.  After waiting half an
hour, I killed it through the task manager; the next install refused
to go because it claimed an installation was running; after rebooting,
it would begin an install, but then hangs up, again about two-thirds
of the way through, this time while supposedly "Uninstalling" what
must be left of the previous cruft.

So I figure I must have some screwy stuff half-installed somewhere,
but danged if I can find it.  Any guesses?  Anyone have the same
experience?

Or, should I just bag on this product anyway?  I want it to connect to
my Sony/Ericsson T616 to download pictures, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Had a similar problem myself (not a Belkin dongle though), installation kept
getting stuck at 90-something percent.  Try rebooting into safe mode and
installing the software while in safe mode, it'll disable any pesky other
drivers that're causing a halt. Can't remember what it was that screwed mine
up, but I did find the culprit. You could always try using msconfig.exe to
prevent random drivers loading as well.

What Version is your software ive been using 1.2.2.9 and Belkin have send me
1.4 which is suppost to support Headsets, 1.2 worked fine but installed the
new one and the same happened, i did an XP roll back and the taskbar failed
to load up. After an evening of fiddling i reinstalled the old version and
now back up and running.

Does the XP warning appear on install?

The Belkin software I have is 1.4.2.10, which is the newest, as near
as I can tell--it's what you can download from their site now.

No warning appeared on installation.
