Can someone save what little hair I have left and point me toward an faq
for bluetooth ?

I got my adapter yesterday, went round to a mate house to try it (he's
using logomanager) and that wouldn't work as it say it'll only work with
the bluetooth XP drivers (and we both on 2k).
Came home and downloaded the Nokia PC suite for the 6310i and
that won't work either, it claims there no phone even though I can see
it in 'Blurtooth devices' and it's detected straight away when I start
the bluetooth s/w.
I've tried changing the comm ports (device manager reports bt
ports as 3 and 4), but after I change and then run  connection manager
it just freezes.

I've tried downloading the demo ver of logo manager but I'm
getting really strange results.  after I set the comm ports and tell LM
it's a bt port and phone asks to pair with the computer, then the
computer disconnects, then asks to pair again, then disconnects...and
just keeps cycling ???

The s/w that came with the adapter is called Blueopal, The 6310i has
firmware 5.51 the computer is running w2k with service pack 4.  I've
tried googling and tried some of the answers I've found with out any
luck,  can someone, please, give me a pointer...

According to
http://www.smartm.com/product/c_support_driver.cfm?banner=comm#smart this
software supports the following profiles: SDAP, GAP, SPP, LAP, DUN, Fax,
FTP, OPP, HCRP, PAN, Headset.

It should work fine. The page contains a FAQ with answers to some of these
problems you mentioned.

I found this site just after posting, downloaded and installed the
update and all the bluetooth s/w on my computer has stopped working, the
installed s/w has vanished from the start bar and the windows
uninstaller can't see it either.  So I guess I'm well and truly stuffed,
looks like a reinstall of w2k (maybe I should try XP ?).....

Steve, I have to confess I've never heard of this software before your
posting. Is it possible to return this dongle and just go for a widcomm
based one, like TDK, Bluetake, Belkin?

We're on the same wave length, it's going back tomorrow.

Isn't it an established fact only devices with Digianswer drivers function
properly with the 6310i?

Since firmware V5.50 the 6310i has been compatible with other bluetooth devices ( at least the ones wth widcomm stacks) and Nokia PC
suite. Before this PC suite Only worked with Digianswer drivers but it was still possible to use the modem functions with the
Widcomm stack.

Nokia don't make it obvious but if you look around the PcSuite CDROM you
can find some .pdf files containing insructions for setting up with
several different bluetooth devices. I nearly succeeded with my Belkin
dongle but I'm running Win98 and it only works with 2k/XP pro, Doh!
