Is it hard to connect a Laptop and desktop Via Bluetooth.I have a laptop
without a lan connection and am thinking of trying a Bluetooth USB dongle to
network it. Any suggestions I am doing some internet research also.

Both the laptop and desktop need bluetooth. You then setup a bluetooth
network. If you are spending money anyway, why not buy a pcmcia network
card for your labtop. The speed of an ethernet network is far better than a
bluetooth network.

I have a 56K dial up connection so 700k is good. I also have a Bluetooth PDA
and would like to try out that function.

Both will need Bluetooth. You then setup ICS on the computer connected to
internet, establishing the sharing *from* the adapter connected to the
internet *to* the Bluetooth adapter. This one *must* be 192.168.0.1, and you
have to enter the DNS addresses there too (the ones from your ISP, fond
through IPCONFIG /ALL).

On the client machine simply open My Bluetooth Places, find the icon for the
other computer and open it. You'll find a service LAN Access. Double-click
there. When asked for username password, enter nothing, just click OK.

Mind you this is only valid for Widcomm based Bluetooth devices, not 3COM or
Extended Connect drivers.

I also had to go into the Ip options and set to auto so to resolve a
conflict. Thanks for the information works great. If anyone wants to do this
the LinkSys setup was easy.
