How would you return a lost cellular telephone you found ?...

Many choices...
If you can get into the phone (i.e., it's not locked), call a number
in the phone's phonebook and ask the person on the other end if the
number that you're calling from sounds familiar...
Call the carrier and report a "found" phone...

I would do the following -
1. If it turns on, look at the call log and call the last number in the log.
Ask the people if they know who might have lost the phone.
2. See if you can determine the carrier. Typically a callto 611 will tell you
who the carrier is.
3. During the call to 611 mentioned above, tell them that you found the phone
and that you would like to return it to the owner. They will typically not give
you owner information but might call the owner and have him/her call you.
Past that, I don't know other than maybe turning it in to the lost and found at
where ever you found it (guessing it might have been a place of business).

Great suggestions. I would also suggest that some people have their own
home phone number (landline) programmed into their phone book and you
may see if that would be an option. I have my home # in my phone for
easy access since I am one of the people who has not given up the
landline yet, and for speed dialing purposes.

I recommend putting a contact number on the EXTERIOR of the mobile
phone. I also change the security code and use with a non standard
lock code, along with a home phone number + REWARD on the outside back
cover, inducing any potential finder to be honest and get my phone
back quickly.

Turn the phone on, dial *611 that is star 611 and explain to whoever
answers you found the phone.
They will advise where to send it.

I've done it through the wireless carrier. See who's name is on the
display (Verizon, Cingular, etc.) call their 800# and tell them you
found a phone and want to know if it's one of theirs. They'll direct
you from there.

Turn it on, and wait for the person who lost it to call you.
