This was not over night. Excel has been in this business for 16 years.
The only reason some of you might not have heard of Excel is because
they do not advertise on TV/Magazines/radio, etc... They pay
Independent Reps to advertise for them.

Excel DOES NOT OWN THEIR OWN CELLULAR NETWORK. I'm pretty sure they don't
do their own long distance either. Now, there's nothing *wrong* with that,
lots of long distance providers resell the big guys; but there's also not
anywhere near as much difference in the quality of service between LD
carriers as there is between wireless carriers. Therefore, the question
"whose network do they resell" is a relevant and very important question.
It's also one you should find the answer to before you come in here telling
us how wonderful Excel is, unless you're just trying to act as a shill for
your friend.
Incidentally, I know Excel didn't become big overnight, but they haven't
been selling wireless phone service for sixteen years either.

It appears that Excel -- like the majority of other resellers nowadays
-- uses SPCS's network.
http://w3.excel.com/us/Products/wr_wireless.asp has some hints:
- Samsung N300 phone
- "off-network" roaming option a la SPCS F&CA
- etc.
As for LD, Excel now has their "own" LD network of sorts, since VarTec
(the "10-10-811" people) bought 'em.

Yeah. Excel is the Amway of communications. A few years ago everyone was
trying to get you to sign up for Excel long distance. I guess that now they
are reselling wireless. So much SPAM, blah, blah. blah....
