Hello. I bought a TracFone (Motorola 120) for my mom for Christmas. I
went to activate it and when I inputted my zip code, it said no lines
were available in my area. I tried other areas around me (Pittsburgh
area) and still no go, finally one went through for zip code 15222.
However, once I programmed the codes into the phone, the number ended
up being a 310 area code? I checked and it is a LA area code. If
TracFone doesn't have any available numbers, do they just give you a
random one then?
Also, the initial number I received, i tested it and I got someone
Sprint's voicemail inbox. Then I did a area code update on TF's website
and got a new number for the phone. However, whenever I call out, the
number that shows up on the other party's line is different than what
the phone displays (still 310 area code though). Any reason why?
Thanks.

below is a Yahoo group that has some very informed people that can answer
your question. I also have a Motorola V120 - its a good sturdy phone but
you have to be careful with its flimsey antennae and mine has a small hard
to read screen which can be a pain if you have old eyes like mine.
BTW Tracfone has a refer-a friend plan(www.tracfone.com) - if you want me to
I can send you or your mother a email referral and we both get 100 minutes
added to our respective phones - not a shabby deal!
