ATT phone and sim card

My son broke his ATT cell phone and now that ATT has been acquired by
Cingular, they refuse to let us buy a new phone unless we transfer our
account to Cingular (at higher rates!!).

Can I just purchase a phone somewhere, like Best Buy or Circuit City or
Walmart, and then use the ATT sim card in the phone? I have an older
Cingular phone, but the ATT sim card is not accepted in it.

You will need to get another ATT phone, get your old Cingular phone unlocked
or buy an unlocked GSM phone.

You also can purches a ATT go phone( Target) drop your sim in it and
you should be go to go..Ebay Has lots of good used equipment ..I find
many in second hands stores and unlock them my self .. If you do come a
cross a Nokia visit me @ www.one800cellular.com And I will help you

What is the make and modle of your Cigular phone that you are trying to
use on ATT?I may be able to help you unlock the unit .
