Anybody got a feel for comparing the two?

I've got tMob.   Not bad, but dead in a couple of spots I frequent - whereas in
both spots I see people talking on cell phones on a regular basis.

I don't know anything about Verizon but I have Cingular and T-Mobile
and have not found any dead spots in the Philadelphia area with
Cingular.  With T-Mobile I find dead spots all over town.  T-Mobile
has a map of dead spots at http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/ where you
enter an address and it will tell you how good the reception is.

That sort of confirms my suspicions.

Also, tMob have more dead spots than their web site shows.   Inside SEI's
buildings on 422, for instance.... or inside Upper Main Line YMCA.  In both
cases other providers have coverage but tMob's signal is zero.

Coverage inside buildings is always going to be a spotty issue in an
urban environment.
