I am using a US Cellular phone in the Waterville Maine area. The reception is
good most places except within a mile of my house in Smithfield. I have begun
researching cell plans. Verizon, T Mobil, Unicel, and Cingulair are all here
but use each others towers etc.
Are there any Mainers out there in my area who have success with a certain
carrier? I have been to Dave Markson's site but I don't see really useful
advice for my situation.
The phone I am using now is an LG VX4400. I certainly would need a phone with
analog capability.

If you need analog capability, stick with Verizon Wireless. I'm not
sure about Cingular, but T-Mobile long ago phased out analog roaming
because it required a special "sleeve" to be added to the phone that
was only supported by 5XXX series Nokias. Cingular and Unicel may
support analog roaming, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I just got done signing a contract with Verizon ( that is the only way I
could get a phone to try). The service is no better.
An old Unicel phone gets great reception here but not where I work in a more
populated area.
Any other feedback from Mainers out there appreciated
