My wife is on a cruise with my grandkids for Spring Break. She just called
me ( I am in Houston, TX) from the middle of the Caribbean?? Would that
cost a lot more than a "normal" call?? We have SBC/ATT and pretty much can
call anywhere in the US. I am amazed that she can even get service when out
to sea???
thanks Rich

Enter the name of the ship to find the rates, but yes, it is VERY
expensive.

Thanks for your help. According to the charts at that site, it is about
$2.50 a minute. Not good, but not a KILLER either. I've left messages
with our kids, in case she calls any of them...to tell her to NOT make any
more calls. Thanks very much for the help. RichG

Cruise ships these days carry their own wireless networks including base
stations, switches, satellite uplink, billing system etc. Making a call
from a cruise ship is like roaming in a foreign mobile network. Ask your
operator or the roaming network operator (the cruise line) what they
charge per call.
For a start, maybe this link is of help. It is a forum discussion with
posters claiming to have paid between $2,49 to $4,99 per minute from a
cruise ship.
