Hi,
I recently purchased a Siemens S56 from Cingular, and was wondering
what the settings were to get my Palm to connect to the internet
either via IR or Bluetooth. (I don't think the method matters, just
the settings). I don't have the internet express, but the other
Wireless internet option where the minutes are charged against your
regular minutes. It's slower, but all I want to do is check email and
do some occasional light web browsing.
So if anyone out there can tell me what # I should have the Palm dial,
what username/password I need to use (or how I can figure out my
username and password), I would be really grateful.
Thanks,
Jon

Check at Howardforums.com . There is likely a sticky in the siemens
newsgroup for your exact settings. It is a great resource for mobile phone
questions, but be sure to search before posting. There are a ton of users
there that don't seem to remember it's a mobile phone newsgroup and waste
time and bandwidth being smart-a's if the questions has been answered
before. Besides that, it is an excellent resource.

Thanks for the tip, it definitely seems to be a good resource and I've
already picked up a few good S56 tips. I did stumble across a few
settings for using the phone as a cellular modem and Cingular as the
ISP, but I get weird errors when I try to dial. Either the phone
seems to ignore the call entirely for the semi-popular *99# number,
or it drops the call immediately on *99.
Anyone have any ideas?

Unless it changed since my Cingular days,it's:
Dial-up Number: 18472549270
User Name: WIDC0001@W4.MYCINGULAR.COM
Password: ZXY203DC9K0402

That did the trick... that and actually turning on the Wireless Internet
stuff in my account. Apparently the rep missed that bit.
Thanks,
Jon
