Heard Samsung X427 is really good.  But I wonder if I can use it with
ATTWS, or other cellphone companies if I want to switch after the
contract is up.

If it is unlocked you can. You don't even have to let the carrier know if
they don't want you to you a particular phone for whatever reason. Just pop
in the SIM and go.

Not sure where you heard that this was a really good phone, but it's not.  I
had two of them in a two week period and they all had problems.  There's a
reason they are giving this thing away.  I recommend you go with something
better like the V400, they are all unlocked.

what kind of trouble did you have?  i've had two fail with bad antenna
circuits...no signal at all unless connected to an external antenna.  we
have four in our family, that's a 50% failure rate.

Mine mostly had trouble with burning up.  I burned up two batteries and one
phone.  They just died.  It also is not a good phone as far as features go,
no MMS, hard to configure internet to CSD, etc.
