The wife and I are on a Cingular Family Talk plan - don't know exactly which
one since we used to be just plain digital until we added college daughter
to plan.  At that time Cingular told me we had to move to new network and
they gave us all new phones - Nokia 6340i GAITs.  [No comments on phones
please, have been very good, very reliable for us]  Wife and I both travel
enough that we need GAIT since we got moved to GSM network.

My question is - sometime along the way, my wifes' phone number no longer
shows when she is calling me - the display just says 'Private Number'.
Apparently it does this for everyone, as several of our friends have caller
id and have commented on this.  What could have caused this change and how
do I fix it?  It is not something we want.

Sounds like your wife was fiddling with her new toy and turned off the send
number feature of her phone.

Spent some time looking for 'send number' in the manual.  Didn't find so
broke down and called customer service.  Turns out block caller id had been
turned on - CS Rep said that is usually automatic when changing plans unless
one has it turned off.  Must be some new policy or something.
