I need some help understanding different Motorola phones. I just got
back from the Cingular store, where they showed me the v400 and
another phone  (721 maybe?) THe clerk said that the V400 had 3 bands
of service vs. 2 on the other phone.

I plan to use my phone almost exclusively in the MA/NH... maybe CT
area. Do I care about the difference ?

Thanks,

You shouldn't care about the difference.  We've got 2 Motorola T720 . . .
GREAT phone.  We use it mostly in MA/NH.  No problems at all.  I travel all
over New England, also, and spend more time in CT than I care to. But no
problems with the T720.  No problems at all.  We're on Cingular Nation

There are 4 bands in use in the world -- 850, 900, 1800 and 1900MHz.

850 and 1900 are used in USA so for best coverage, coast to coast, you need
both those frequencies.

If you never plan to use your phone overseas, then the 900 and 1800 bands
are useless to you and you would not care.

I believe you'll find the V400 is quad (4) band

v400 is quad band, which covers all 4 domestic and international bands...
850/900/1800/1900

You don't care about the difference, both will work fine throughout the
United States (850/1900) and the v400 will work throughout the world.

I live in Georgia, took the v400 with me to Australia and New Zealand,
worked fine there.
