Does anybody get cutoffs on GSM phones?  Our family has the problem with
Motorola and other brands so I don't think it is a certain brand.  The line
just goes dead and you have to redial.  I'm pretty much fed up with this and
would like to push Cingular to do something about it.  Any comments?

How is this a GSM problem?  That's common with cellular calls.  I've had no
more problem with it on GSM than on any other technology.  -Dave

I am having the same issue when calling my father who's using a Nokia
on TMobile. Line will just end without any of the normal tones to
indicate a dropped or ended call.

The problem you describe, dropped calls, is common with most carriers
but seems to hit GSM victims (er, I mean users) particularly bad.  I
have a friend who just went round and round with Cingular over two
cell sites that were out of service near her new home for a long time,
and she never got the same answer from any two people at Cingular.  It
seems that if you do get to tier 2 support, they know more about what
is going on.  All the bullshit she was fed came from the front line
support staff or the droids at the store.  The woman in tier 2 had the
right info, we just didn't know who to believe until the sites came
back online a couple of weeks ago.
