Hello all,
We are thinking of switching to Cingular from another carrier. Any
opinions on the coverage, service, and phone to buy for this area? I
don't need web or email access just a good phone to talk on.
Thanks for your help.

Nokia 6340i is great for voice and signal reception for now and a few
years into the future and currently is $0.00 on the website for a two
year contract. When I was there, no problems with this phone. If you
understand, it picks up 800/1900 TDMA, 850/1900 GSM(the near future for
Cingular) and AMPS(analog).

Cingular's Kansas City coverage is excellent- second to none IMHO.
The Nokia 6340 would be a good phone- it uses the current TDMA network
and it's excellent coverage, and also can utilize the GSM technology
Cingular is switching over to. If you don't travel, the local
("Home") plan covers most of MoKan, and if you do, the national plans
are second to none.
Regrettably, I just cancelled my Cingular service today- I moved from
KC to Denver last week, and Cingular doesn't offer service in Denver.
And, due to the terrain of the valley I've chosen to live in, the
companies that OFFER service here, don't necessarily PROVIDE service
here! I live about 30 min. Southwest of Denver've and I don't get a
reliable signal from either Verizon or AT&T. (I may have to rethink
my long standing position on always choosing a true 800MHz carrier
over a 1900MHz PCS one!) T-Mobile actually provides very good service
in/near my home. As long as I don't stray east of the airport it
looks like T-Mo is my new carrier.
