Sadly, this particular one doesn't operate on the right frequency
bands, but there's no reason why something similar cannot be produced
for the US market. In fact, Garmin's original NavTalk was an AMPS
analog cellular phone; why they chose to ignore the US market with
their GSM NavTalk boggles the mind...

The reason is the babel in the US market, which greatly reduces the benefits
of enconomy of scale, thanks to piss poor government policies. So instead of
having a wealth of compatible product choices (as they do in Europe), we have
a wealth of less attractive incompatible alternatives.

Is there any way to set the Samsung x427 to automatically set the
correct time and adjust accordingly when traveling to other time zones,
as my A400 did when I was with Sprint (the only benefit of that
relationship, IMO)? Thanks.

yeah, i know the CAN produce the same phones for the US market, but the
simple fact is they don't. I still wish we could make purchases from
vending machines using our cell phones, or flirt with the girl sitting
across from me on the subway by sending in infrared msg (or whatever
that was i read about a while back). oh well.
