Has anyone used any of the Nokia 9000 series on the Cingular GSM
network?
I have an old R380 that I would like to upgrade with a newer capable
phone.
My choices seems to be either the 9290, 9500 or maybe the Sony Ericsson
P800/900 series.

First the 9520, will not work as it only uses 1900mhz. The 9500 is a
different story. The information I have says there are going to be two
versions of this phone. One will have 900/1800/1900 an the other will
have 850/1800/1900. The same thing was done with the 6230 however the
"b" version(850/1800/1900) came out much later than the original
version. If you happen to see the Nokia 9500 and decide you want to buy
it, make absolutely sure it has 850 or it will not work on Cingular in
most areas.

Biggest problem, besides no 850, on the 9290 is no GPRS. Great phone, but
that lack of GPRS was insane.
