If I use the 6340i on the SuperHome plan will it only work on their GSM
network?

Will I be charged anything if it roams back and forth from GSM and TDMA?

Or will I not be able to UTILIZE the GAIT features at all unless I'm on the
Nation plan?

Ultimately I like this phone for the multi-network feature and want to be
able to benefit from it.  I was going to activate under the Nation plan but
they wouldn't allow me to add-a-phone.  They would however add-a-phone to
the GSM Nation plan.  Anyway I spoke to a sales rep recently and he
mentioned I could utilize the phone under the SuperHome plan (roam GSM/TDMA
networks) without being charged.  Please confirm.

Thanks for any feedback!

Yes, that's true. You would be able to use GSM, TDMA, and possibly AMPS on
Superhome, provided that your phone's display has Cingular, and not Cingular
Extend.

Have a good one,

Superhome California, the only one I studied has additional area of coverage
in remote rural areas that will add a roaming charge.  You would need
National, not GSM National to avoid roaming charges.

I am listening closely since I will be adding a line in the next two weeks.

I have the 6340i (actually three of them) with the superhome plan in the
Cleveland OH market. My handsets frequently say "Cingular Extend" sometimes
even in my own livingroom. The phone behaves somewhat differently but I have
never been charged for roaming except when I am physically out of the
superhome area.
I am not exactly clear on why I sometimes have "Cingular" and somtimes
"Cingular Extend" at the same location. I just got my daughter a GSM phone
(Moto t720, she just had to have a flip phone) on a shared contract.. Have
not yet checked if there is a difference in coverage area.

I have Preferred Nation and in my home in Central NJ and always hit an
AT&T tower that is somewhere NYS. The display says "Cingular Extend".
But Cingular has a roaming agreement with AT&T, so it shouldn't be a
problem.
