Taking a family vacation this summer; Will my Cingular (formerly ATT
GSM) phone have any service?

A couple of co-workers just spent 2 weeks in Anchorage and had no trouble at
all. One has Cingular and one has Sprint.

I just got back from Anchorage a few months ago.  BEFORE I LEFT, I called
Cingular to ask them if there was any coverage in Anchorage.  I was told
that my phone would work OK up there, but that it would be charged as
INTERNATIONAL ROAMING.  I'm on the Cingular Nation GSM plan.  I left my
Cingular cell phone at home.  -Dave

I take it you've never been to Alaska.  :)

Yup, that's what I was told by Cingular . . . that it would be
*International* roaming if I used my Cingular Nation GSM handset in
Anchorage, AK.  Seemed kind of odd to me, also.  But, better safe than sorry
. . . I left the Cingular handset home.  -Dave
