I've had several people say they've called me and got this message.
And they act like I wasn't accepting calls on purpose!
I called Cingular and she said I needed to turn off my phone each day for
about 3 minutes or more (which I'd NEVER done) so it can "refresh" or pick
up the updates.
She said it *should* also help me with having dropped called and lack of
signal
I've been trying to remember to that, but the above problems still happen.
Go figure....

I don't know what phone you are using but that message is sent to callers
when you have your "call forward" setting in your phone to "all calls"
"off" and you don't answer the phone before it times out to voice mail and
when your phone is powered off.
Also if you want to set your default amount of rings timing before it goes
to voice mail this is one way:
where XXXXXXXXXX is the ten-digit voicemail system number for your area and
tt is the time in seconds you want the phone to ring for. Valid numbers for
tt are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30. Since each ring is approx. 5 seconds
including the blank space between them, that means 30 seconds should give
you about 6 rings and that's the maximum you can do.
For instance, to set the longest ring delay for the NYC market you would
dial:
*61*+19084630020*11*30#
After pressing the "send/call" button you should get some sort of
confirmation message.
Note: If you don't know what the voicemail system number for your area is,
dial *#61# on your phone.

I don't think that's the message Cingular (not ATT) uses for that
though. I don't have voicemail on Cingular since I use a one-number
service--if I call the cell directly and don't answer or hit "decline
call" the caller hears "the wireless customer you are calling is not
available--please try again later" twice and then the call disconnects.
ATT might use the other message though.
I've gotten that message myself a few times lately. It plays the
message and then disconnects. In one case I know for sure it was a
Verizon customer who hadn't paid the bill on time--apparently "V" is
very quick at suspending the phone and there is a period of time between
the time it's suspended but before they totally cancel the service when
a caller would get this message. Might be the case with C/ATT also.
You'd think they'd get more action if they made it "The person you're
calling is late paying our bill--if you see him/her please tell them
we're not sending their calls through until we see some money." :-)

These have been very helpful, thank you for sharing them.
Is there a location where there I might find more "programming" options like
these, since I'm assuming that they're all standard with GSM?
