Just need to vent a bit....

Got a family plan with 3 new phones a couple of months ago.  I guess it
was my own fault for not reading the fine print, but I got the rebates
in the mail today... Visa debit cards for the rebate amounts!

I guess the only reason they do this is to make a few cents when you use
a card and toss it away when there's only 50-cents left on it (since you
can't use it for anything of real value)...

What a friggin' racket they've got going on....

Some people would complain if they were hanged with a new rope<g>

Your rebate is what?  $25, $50, $75? You can't make a purchase that
large and add a buck or two out of your pocket?  I could see being a bit
pissed - both at myself and them if the rebate came as a merchandise
check you could only use at, say, K-mart but what the hell, Visa Debit
is like cash.

Don't forget to check to see if they have an expiration date. Some of
the debit cards that are given out expire after a certain time period.
Some as short as 30 days!

Can you not take the Visa debit card to any ATM and withdraw cash? My
Visa debit does.

No, it's not valid for ATM withdrawals.

I have always taken the ones I get directly to the teller and asked
for anything on the card be deposited in my account.  There is usually
a ~$2 fee for the transaction.

$2 fee for a $20 card from Cingular,  that's a $10 percent fee.  Much too
much for a "rebate."  I would rather use the entire amount of the card for a
purchase or dinner and not pay a large fee.

I hate these cards too.  Just give me cash.

I called up cingular and had them apply the rebate card to my Cingular
account.  Simple and let's me get rid of the card immediately!
