Keeping your old cell number

I heard in November a law will be passed that will allow you to keep
your old cell number when switching carriers. Good news for some.

This is true.  However, both Cingular and AT&T are still resisting it in
court.  In the mean time some of the smaller outfits are getting into
the act saying that as they are local networks only they should be
allowed to be except from this requirement.  It would appear that some
outfits are afraid of loosing customers.
