Over 2 years ago I signed up with Cingular for a plan called the
Preferred Nation Promo and got the Nokia 6340i with it.  Recently I was
told by one of their reps (when calling about another issue)  that they
have changed this plan and the phone will be basically useless to me if
I try to use it outside of my home state.  The rep also said I could no
longer use towers from their competitors.  I was told I needed to get a
new GSM phone and a new plan which would give me less Anytime minutes if
I wanted to use the phone outside of my home state.

Well, I took my phone on vacation to several other states and noticed it
worked great and rarely even showed the "Cingular Extend"  notice to
warn me I was roaming.  

I called Cingular again when I returned home and this time a different
rep said the other rep had given me wrong info.  He said my phone is a
TDMA/GAIT phone and would work just as good as a GSM and recommended I
keep my phone.  He also said my plan assured me I would never have to
pay roaming charges and even said he was noting this in my file for
future reference.

Now, I am really confused!  Does anyone know what is going on with
Cingular and which rep was giving me the correct information??  Can they
just change your plan as the first rep said they did with mine and not
even send me a letter notifying me what to expect??  Thanks for any help
or information you can share.
