The one thing I don't understand about connecting to the Internet is
why they charge extra to do it.  I mean all you use is your minutes you
are paying for.  And from what I have read some connect without paying
extra and some connect but pay extra ($3.99 per month).  So what is the
real story.  Minutes are minutes.  Or am I wrong.  Bet a lot who connect
to get their e-mail use less minutes than some of those yacking their
heads off.

Most people use GPRS / Edge data abt the same speed as dialup or faster you
must pay or this seperate from Voice.
CSD 9.6K very slow abt 1/5 dialup speed is charged as minutes.
The reason people pay is that is one way to get your account setup correct
for CSD just add any data plan, you get the CSD and use CSD not the GPRS
data.

Sorry abt the typo's, also some data plans include text messages/SMS which
are cheaper than the .10 per message charge. The free data plan is called:

/WIX EXTENDED INTERNET  $0.00
/WIX DATA CONNECT  $0.00
/WRLSS INTRNT XPRS PAY PER USE  $0.00

Key phrase is "PAY PER USE" because I never use the GPRS/EDGE data I have
never been charged. The CSD data I do use is counted with my voice calls and
I use the unlimited night and weekend for this.

With my former Nextel account I paid a nominal flat rate and I could
read news from CNN, etc.

This was handy if you had some extra time on your hands waiting for
the wife or spending time in the, well, you know.

When I first got my Cingular account I found basically the same
service but it really burned up the bits.  Definitely not worth the
money.

So my question to you is how do you set up and make a connection to
the same place using CSD?

Thanks,

Malcolm

Hi:

Just jumping in here ...I'm trying to learn more about this technology.
Are
you saying that if I use the information you provided below during nights
and weekends on my cingular account I can surf the net through my phone
and
it won't cost me anything?

Thanks.

Bob
