?,

The Gem plus sim card is the one with the reported problems using the Treo
650. The Axalto is the 64K sim card that works fine with the Treos.

Based on some of the info from this group i may be able to get better
performance with the 64K axalto sim card. The 64k card is supposed to
provide better tower selection and more options for Cingular users.

Unless you have the Treo 650 or are in an area where Cingular is moving
customers from "Orange" to "Blue" network or vice versa in an effort to
share the load and ease congestion during usage peaks, (their decision, not
yours), the old 32K SIM and the 64K SIM work exactly the same. The 32K even
works fine in the Treo 650. The Gemplus works fine in everything but the
Treo 650, and Gemplus claims that all SIMs shipped after a certain date have
the problem fixed (though I still sell Axalto with a Treo 650 because I've
not seen a definitive memo from Cingular saying the Gemplus is now good to
go). Once again...the 64K SIM is NEWER not BETTER than the 32! Only ENS
(Enhanced Network Selection - a CINGULAR INITIATED FUNCTION) is supported by
the 64 and not the 32!

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to vent one more time!

Mark
