Blank Screen sometimes, screen locks up

Yup, I'm getting the blank screen that a lot of other T720 users are
now getting.  It all started to happen while I was on vacation.  The
face plate screen would not show the correct time, if so it was all in
garbled text.  Sometimes it would be just dot like characters rather
than 'field mode' expresses.

Tomorrow, I am going to the Cingular kiosk to ask for a replacement.
I sure hope that they will take it for a fair exchange.  I certainly
should not have to pay for another phone because their crappy hardware
isn't working like they thought.

Firstly, I'm going to have them replace the battery.  Perhaps that has
something to do with the screen going blank or locking up.  Next I'm
going to have them update the firmware to a more updated release.  And
lastly, I'm going to swap the sam chip with another phone to see if
that has anything to do with my experiences with this useless hunk of
junk.

Any suggestions that could be repaired at home now, rather than
waiting for some college kid sales person just looking to make more
money from me at the store?

TIA

first off i resent the remark about some college kid as i am in college at
the moment and have worked for radio shack for over 3 years now and have had
better customer service and sales than most full timers.

That said, the blank screen wont be fixed with a new battery or changing the
sim card from one phone to another. The only way to fix the problem is get a
new phone and/or update the firmware of the phone.

Thanks for the info.. Didn't mean to offend anyone about the remark.
