I'm considering getting a GAIT/6340i phone for use in the Northeastern
"corner" of Westchester County, NY AND the
Danbury/Ridgefield/Wilton/New Canaan area of Connecticut the is just a
bit further east.

I can't get a straight answer from Cingular to the following questions
so I pose them to you:

1. Is the 6340i with Cingular service, likely to work in this area?
I know that AT&T TDMA service is okay (not great) on the New York side
but Cingular rules on the Connecticut side.

2. If the phone connects via an AT&T tower in NY, will I get hit with
roaming charges on the Superhome plan?

3. If yes to 1 and 2, then it would seem the a Cingular Nation plan
would cover me?

thanks,

Bob

With the Nation Plan (not the Nation GSM plan) you wouldn't have to
worry about any roaming anywhere in the US.  With the Superhome plan,
you would have to be aware of the Cingular Extend on every call.  It
would search first for a Cingular signal, then ATTWS GSM/TDMA, then
other carriers downloaded into the IRDB (int. roamng data base).
Outside of NY metro area, you could get T-Mobile also and many other
carriers.  Cingular GSM in NY metro area is really T-Mobile in a shared
spectrum agreement.  T-Mobile in So. CA is really Cingular.
