family share plane in 2 seprate markets?

I am trying to get a family share plane with a number in detroit(248)
and a number in los angeles (310) does ne1 have a suggestion how to do
this.. I was told that for a family plan it has to be in the same
market...

True.  You cannot share with phones in other markets.

Would it work to just get two phones in your local marker on the
family plan and ship the one to the other market? I know a friend here
has given his callege bound kid a T-mobile which she uses in southern
Texas local calls and back to the parents

I have a North American shared plan with two phones.  One phone stays in
Florida, and the other one stays in Canada.  I've had no problems with
billing.

not a problem at all, but one of the numbers of course will be lon
distance for locals to call (ie detroit # in LA, but most people hav
free LD these days so who cares....)
