I saw some whining about cell phones, land lines not working in New Orleans,
lots of complaints on who is the problem person, but none offering some
"brain storming" on how we might be able to help. I was thinking of using
my storefront to offer free calls to New Orleans, but based on landline
facilities being down, that would not be as helpful as I had hoped.
Although I may still offer it.
I'm under the impression that a lot of smart people are in these phone
forums, and right now, people in disaster really would like to have some
type of phone capability. We know that health, food, clothing, and housing
are critical: but what can we do aside from $. If we brainstorm, we should
be able to come up with some ideas... maybe something different that
I/you/me could do with a storefront or our own networking capabilities.
Perhaps the best answer is to stay out of the "professionals" way and just
give money, but perhaps not. dr

Well, one of our store managers came up with this idea. We have a 7'x5'
readerboard that we use to promote plans. We changed it as follows:
Katina Relief needs USA (the US was in red, needs US)
Give to the Red Cross
Activate a Line &
We give $5 in your name
This is not a telethon, but I challenge/ask that each dealer/agent try and
be creative in figuring a way to support this American disaster relief
program. I would not encourage someone, in the name of Katina Relief, to
sign up for a plan. But if you are signing up for a plan for whatever
reason, it is nice to know that your local store/agent/business thinks
enough to take a small part of the profit and pass it on. Even if you don't
buy something, it raises awareness one more notch. dr
