The V551 can only handle certain formats. Use Motorola Mobile Phone Tools to
convert your audio to the supported format.

What did you use to send the mp3 to the phone? I found that both Mobile
Phone Tools & one of the p2k tools will transfer mp3s to the phone, but
only the ones transferred with MPT will be usable as ringtones.

Sounds interesting.

The V551 can use midis or mp3s. And do a Google search on this & the
Motorola NG for Audacity. There's a link in several threads to a tutorial
on using Audacity to create mp3 ringtones. That might help modify the ones
you've made so they're usable, if it isn't how you transferred them that
causes your problem.

What did you use to transfer the files to your phone equipment-wise?

I used Mobile Phone Tools. The file transfered no problem. I just got
an error when I tried to play it from the cell phone.

What was the error message?

I started with MPT (Mobile Phone Tools) using bluetooth. When I wanted to
add skins, etc., I grabbed p2k Commander & got a usb cable. That did fine
for skins & images, but mp3s transferred to the phone without being
recognized as usable for ringtones. I've also used MPT with the usb
connection successfully.
