ZIP?

Go to wirelessadvisor.com and plug in a ZIP code.  It will tell you
what services the area and what frequencies are used in that area.

The granularity of that search is not very good in my area.
There are only 16 cities listed in California.
Looking by zip for my area is apparently showing me the results from one of
those sixteen.

It depends on the area.  It has the iDEN network registered as "Sprint",
but here in Florida it still has US Cellular listed, which this market
became ATTWS, and then Cingular.

But it will likely give you an idea on what frequencies are used in
the area and who provides service generally in that area.  It may not
be perfect, but at least it's a start!

In my area, the city that it shows is 75 miles and two moutnain ranges
away.  With only 15 cities listed in California, this is more a list of
operating companies for the state than operators in an area.
