Nokia is offering a Great Price on phones for new activations with rebates.
Almost $400 dollars total savings on the 3 phones I'm looking at but I'm
already a cingular customer and not eligible for rebates with upgrade.
My question. Has anyone just ordered completely new service and phones then
activated and cancelled old service. My current contract is complete and
retaining my numbers isnt a problem.

I guess it depends on what cingular's regulations are. Most mobile
companies if you try and pull the "new customer trick" on them are
well aware that people try to do this. It's called "artificial churn"
and likely you will not be able to pull it off.

Why couldn't he pull it off? Use a different mailing address (PO Box?)
and put the plan under your wife's name or something. I don't see
why you can't do this if you don't care about changing your numbers.

Well, if you don't have any problem with deceiving the company go for
it.

We're not talking about filing a false police report here, just working
around restrictive company policies.
