Two years ago I was pulled out of my sleep by my cell phone going off.
I knew it had to bad as I had instructed people to only call my cell
during an emergency.  My sister called.  She had just seen a WTO
building burst into flame.  As we spoke I could hear a radio in the
background and the voices of many astonished employees.  Some people
called for an evacuation after the first building stopped swaying.
A few minutes later I could hear the floors below her being turned into
a fireball as the second plane struck home.  Our call ended with the
longest ten seconds I have ever spent on a phone.   A few days passed
before a friend called to confirm that it was not all just a nightmare.

Some of the chaps who are being smart mouths today have no idea what
9/11 it really means for thousands of Americans.  You gloat and use
these forums to spread utter nonsense about that day.  How many more
years will have to pass before such people wake up?

Sometimes cell phones bring us words we do not want to hear, but calls
from loved ones are always welcome.

William,

I am sorry for your loss.

I was pulled out of bed by Howard Stern talking about this.
Thinking that it was a joke, remember that this is Howard Stern, I
came out to the living room and popped on the TV.  Local NBC
affiliate was on and I changed over to MSNBC.

Imagine the  shock and disbelief I felt as I realized that this was
no joke.

Two years on and we still remember our fallen.  As we should.

343 firefighters died doing what they do best.
2832 people died doing what they did for their money.

I hope that the yahoos that think that this is a joke
remember one thing.  It could have been YOUR family.

We are still a grieving nation.

God bless the families and friends of ALL the victims of 9 11 01
