The agreement is probably with your company and Cingular. If Wally
World charges an activation fee, you'd have to pay it.

I don't have specific experience with the Walmart deal, but Why pay $40
when you can get two RAZR's for free at Tiderdirect.com? BTW, I bet you
don't get the RAZR for $40. You probably pay full price, then you are
offered multiple mail in rebates that bring the price down to $40. You
probably have to wait 180 days before submitting the rebates, and any
change in your rate plan or late payments make you ineligible for the
rebates.

AFTER the $200 rebate.
I'd take $40 out the door over the possibility of getting my $200 back
anytime.

I am a Cingular rep. I say buy the Wal-Mart one and pay the $36 dollar
activation fee. That's $76 for a brand new RAZR. YOu run into
problems when you buy phones from authorized dealers online (i.e.
Wirefly, Tiger, etc.) Most of the time you enter into a 6 month
contract with the online companies as well as your 1 or 2 year contract
with Cingular. Buy it from Wal-mart and then go into a Cingular store
and ask them to apply your business discount to your account. You'll
need proof that you work there such as a name badge or a paystub before
they'll add it. I hope this helps. . If you have any questions about
Cingular just e-mail me.

It was my understanding that my business discount was available *only*
if I order from CBO.
They'll switch me in the store? I'll have to ask.

I bought a phone at Fry's Electronics, adding it to an account that had a
employee affiliation discount. That was not a problem.
I see Best Buy has the Black V3 for $39.99 after rebates, with cingular.

Thanks for the response. I thought this was the case, and I discusse
it with a coporate store. They called someone on the phone and state
they could only offer a $100 price match, bringing the phone to $99 a
Cingular. But no activation fee. So total price difference was $2
from Walmart and the Cingular store. I got it through the store onl
so I knew all the paperwork and plans were correct.
Also, the Wal-Mart deal is a straight price, NO rebates. That is why
liked it. The tigerdirect deals you do not get your money for 180-??
days and I have heard a lot of people doing one step wrong and neve
getting the money.
So far I played with ROKR and the V3 and like them both. I an
learning the MPT software and making ringtones. Only problem is tha
the V3 has bootloader 8.26, so no unlocking yet. I travel to Europe
South Am, and Asia a lot and it is cheaper to use a local SIM

There is a way to unlock the V3 with bootloader 8.26...but it involve
removing some shielding in the phone and definitely voiding th
warranty. But if you are only paying $40 plus for the phone it may b
worth it to you. I am a cell tech and we are not performing this fo
customers yet because of the warranty issues but I have successfull
unlocked V3's with bootloader 8.26 for friends who have enough mone
that they just don't care..

I can un lock any Motorola Razr V3 even if it has bootloader 8.26, even
without takeing the phone apart. If interested email me at

The Wal-mart deal requires new activation with 2 year contract. I wen
into walmart last night to pick one up, and i would have paid almos
two hunderd to buy one because I am already on contract.

Some months back I bought two of the silver ones when I decided to upgrade
my phones and change from Nextel to Cingular. But now, in the glare of
20-20 hindsight, that was a bad idea. It's too easy for my wife & I to grab
the wrong phone.
What would be the best (read: least expensive) way for me to exchange a
silver one for a black one--all other things to stay the same? Anyone wanna
trade?

I saw in a magazine once where you can buy these rhinestone things that
stick on the phone to make it look like one of those movie star bling bling
(I am so getting tired of that expression but it about covers the whole
look) Then your wife can decorate hers so you won't be grabbing the wrong
one. Cingular probably even has some way you can decorate one. I know the
old fashion ones you could just change the face plates I don't know about
the Razr.

Holy cow! Thanks "bamp!" I had no idea that there was even such an option.
I thought they came as they came...end of story.
Thanks for the tip and nudge in the right direction...

Just put different wallpaper on each phone. Or try this, we both have
LG1300's. Mine is in a leather case, wifey's is in a plastic holster.

Did that--in fact we do that now. But unless you open it and actually look
at it, it's still prone to error. Yeah, yeah, I know, take a bit more
care... We do that now. But not until after a few more than simply amusing
instances of swapped phones...(:-o)!
> LG1300's. Mine is in a leather case, wifey's is in a plastic holster.
Already screwed that up by having bought two identical cases when I bought
the identical phones...(:-o)! Besides, the cases we got are so hard to
attach on the fanny-pack belts that they're more trouble to remove than
they're worth.
At any rate, this should all be moot soon enough. Thanks to a tip from
"bamp", I found a plethora of new face-plates and stick on covers of all
sorts. I had no idea that alternate covers were available. Not to mention
that "only" a 1,000 or so were available on eBay... I just got the ping
from PayPal that my cover had shipped.
Now, if only I could find somebody that makes those covers...I have an idea
for a custom design that I'd like to explore... But that's probably the
basis for a different thread.
Thanks again to all those that replied with salient info. It was much
appreciated...

Wrong.
If "it's too easy for me to grab the wrong phone," then "it's too easy
for my wife and me to grab the wrong phone." These are both correct.
You wouldn't say "it's too wrong for I to grab the wrong phone,"
therefore you wouldn't say "it's too wrong for my wife and I go grab the
wrong phone".
It's not always "you and I", people. Your parents told you that, but
you never learned the context. "Me and Jimmy are going to the park."
Your parents corrected you: "Jimmy and I are going to the park." You
took that "...and I" to be written in stone every time you talk about
yourself and someone else, and that's not how it works.

Gee! That was useful--not to mention, helpful. I feel so much better now.
So chastened. So refreshed. So...so...so...defiled...
FOAD!
