Cingular problem. My work-around is to use a Java full Web browser.

Cellular tends to be problematic indoors. That said, an external antenna
might well help.

You're probably seeing two different towers, a Home network tower with
marginal signal, and a roaming tower with full signal. This problem should go
away when Cingular integrates its two (old ATTWS "blue" and old Cingular
"orange") networks. If you have an ENS capable phone and (64K) SIM, you might
get better results with a different Home network ("orange" versus "blue")

Why can't you? While the camera in the phone isn't terribly sensitive, you
can boost the brightness.

I will explore your solution.

No, it is due to lousy coverage at that location inside or outside. I
get perfect reception indoors in other areas. My point was that coverage
within Cambridge Massachusetts (and particularly) adjacent to a major
university, and a vibrant center of technological research companies
should be adequate if not exceptional. Coverage is spotty and
inconsistent, and has been extending back to the time my provider was
ATT Wireless, and with different cellphones. The dead spots in a three
block radius have not improved in over two years.

Sorry my sarcasm was poorly worded. I can make and receive calls (though
they tend to drop as I walk through the house), but I cannot send or
receive multimedia files (ie pictures). The camera within the phone is
in perfect working order.
Sorry for the rant. I needed a long-overdue vent over frustration with
the network coverage where I live, frequent and work: Cambridge,
downtown Boston, and my neighborhood.
On a positive note: has anyone experienced Cingular service in Portland
Maine? The network and coverage is exceptional throughout that area...
full strength inside and out. The coverage is perfect throughout the
Interstate 95 corridor from Boston and beyond Portland north.

I'm in Sacramento Calif and get all 5 bars inside my house-:)

That's probably the fault of the local government and/or (NIMBY) electorate --
it's very difficult to get antenna siting in many areas.

1. Call Customer Care to ensure that MMS is enabled, and ask to have settings
"pushed" to your phone. Then switch the phone off and back on to trigger the
OTA update.
2. Or see my regularly-posted FAQ on configuring your phone manually.
3. Be warned that pay-per-use MMS messaging is expensive. You might want to
look into a package.

OK. I'll play the blame game with someone other than Cingular Wireless.

MMS is enabled. I have difficulty sending and receiving from this
specific location (home), thus upsetting "my perfect little world"

I have a media-bundle package, thank for your concern.

What is the specific problem? Can you send SMS messages? Email?
>ps: why assume I was a noob?
I didn't -- sorry you felt I did -- but I do think your email address might
lead some others to that conclusion. ;)

The signal is so poor that the web browser barely works, ie I have to
find a sweet spot in the house, text messaging is spotty, and multimedia
messages neither send or receive. Read my lips: the problem is poor
coverage, a weak signal.

A better phone might help (all around) -- messaging is possible in signal
conditions too poor for voice communications.

He's using a Moto V3.

That's a good phone, but it might be defective, and others might be better at
messaging -- no phone is perfect, and there are both bugs and weaknesses in
Motorola firmware.
