John-

Have read your posts here and visited your site so I figured youmioght
be the guy to ask.  (Nice site BTW, I spent a lot of time learning
there!)

I recently was given an HP iPaq 1940 by a friend who never opened the
box.  Knowing that it had bluetooth I had hoped to pair it with my
MPX220 so as to surf the net through the (yes I know, SLOW) bt
connection.

I have managed to pair the phone and iPaq fine, but I cannot find ANY
info on how to set up either the phone or the iPaq to dial out that I
could understand.

I set up a connection to the phone to dial the number "*99***3#" based
on a post I read over at geekzone
(http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=6&TopicId=1124) and
while the modem seems to establish a connection to the phone it never
completes it.

The info in the GeekZone forums post mentions the following settings:

User name: WIXDC001@W5.MYCINGULAR.COM
Password: ZXY203DC9K0402
the dialing number for your Ipaq should be *99***3#

Do you have ideas on what needs to be done or can you point me in the
right direction?

Thanks

Bluetooth is FAST compared to cellular wireless.

That's obsolete, and applies only to Data Connect, not MEdia Net.

Data Connect or MEdia Net?  If the latter:

When I look at the Data Connections in Settings on my MPX 220, both
the Internet Connection and WAP Connections are marked "PDA Connect".

I looked at the wikipedia page you referenced, but none of it seemed
to relate to connecting my iPaq 1940 to my MPX220 Smartphone for a
bluetooth GPRS connection.

I appreciate your efforts; any other ideas?

If you're on MEdia Net, that page does apply -- the settings and basic methods
are the same for MEdia Net on different devices, albeit entered into the
device differently.

If, however, you're on a Data Connect package, see my webpage at
<http://navasgrp.home.att.net/tech/cingular/p800_setup.htm>.  Those are the
old settings, but they should still work.
